It started one warm afternoon in 2006 jamming with a small group in the Goat Barn. Jim Rathbun was showing off as usual playing a version of Dancing Bear he learned of an album.
Lynne Ellen and her mom were walking through the barns, listening to the music. Her mom recognized the tune. Jim told the gathered crowd that he got his arrangement off a Dulcimer Dan album, and it was from a guy named Jeff Catt. Marilyn replied,
"I'm Marilyn Catt, and Jeff's my son."
Jim got caught cobbing a tune arrangement by the composer's MOM!!!
Jim, Marilyn, and Lynne Ellen were friends ever since, and along with Dale Palecek (who was soon thereafter roped into a lifelong co-conspirator position, with no chance of parole) , they have gathered (suckered, conned, finagled) like-minded musicians to learn, play and experience the rapture of an Evart under the tent jam session.
This is the experience that has become the Squirrels' Nest Jam, and Squirrels' Nest Live.
High energy, amazing musicanship, lifelong friendships, and tremendous FUN.
